Slide Show of "Maps" Exhibit at the International Quilt Festival in Long Beach, CA

As I was perusing Alex Anderson's and Ricky Tims' The Quilt Show blog, I found that their August 10, 2013 featured a Smilebox slideshow of "Maps", the Quilts on the Wall exhibit at the International Quilt Festival in Long Beach, California.  It was gratifying to see my Vetruvian Man show up on this little show.  For a slice of fun, check out The Quilt Show blog post.  The art work that centered on an interpretation of the "Maps" theme were varied and quite stimulating.

Here is the post card that went out to advertise the "Maps" exhibit.  The image was taken from the outstanding interpretation of the theme by Trish Charity, artist extraordinaire.

Here I am demonstrating the method I developed for making polymer clay stamps for use on fabric.  It was heart-lifting to see how many quilt festival attendees were interested and it was wonderful to see an old friend, Susan Edwards--the pretty gal wearing a red and white striped blouse.

All the exhibits were absolutely astounding.  It was inspirational to be among the works of such talented artists.

"Between Heaven and Earth" - An art quilt comes home

Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims attended the Road to California quilt show and produced a slideshow of the "Bridges" exhibit from the Quilts on the Wall group.  My quilt, "Between Heaven and Earth", was juried into the exhibit and I believe it is the 7th in the slideshow series.  After having traveled the United States with the "Bridges" exhibit for the past year, the quilt is finally coming home in March.

Pocket Book for Fiber Arts Post Cards

I belong to Serendipity Play Group, a mini group of Quilts on the Wall in Southern California.  The focus of the group is on creating and exchanging 5" x 7" quilted, fiber arts post cards.  A recent project is for each member to create his or her own "pocket book" for the post cards that are exchanged.  Because my grandmother called her purse a pocket book, that image has always been among my fondest memories; thus, my take on the pocket book was the shape of a purse.
